[Again, Michael isn't especially close with Natsuki, but he's decided that's no reason not to get her a present! Everybody likes presents! They're fun, and everyone's upset on this broken moon base together, and they need fun!
He knows she's into poetry like Sayori, but he doesn't want to just get her the exact same thing. So he went in a different direction here. The package is left outside her door along with Chidi's gift a few days before Christmas, so hopefully those two can work out their weird roommate situation well enough to get all of those to the correct recipient.]
This seemed like a fun present. Hope it comes in HANDY
Happy holidays!
- Michael
[It's a set of brass knuckles! Michael guessed on the sizing, but it's not as though those are incredibly precise beyond "small hands" anyway, right? He could have gotten her a knife like Yuri's, but she seems like she would enjoy punching. They are rose gold!]
[ Well, she does get a hold of it eventually, and ... wow. These are kind of cool? She tries them on and admires them on her in the mirror before she starts to text him in thanks.
... but she stops, realizing she should probably have his gift ready before she gets back to him. So it takes a little while for her text to finally arrive. ]
that pun was horrible but thanks for the gift i have something for you too if you want
[well, there's a lot of things. you learn to qualify statements like that when you live in Hell - but he's not there now, and he's also learned when he doesn't have to.]
[In front of her door, Natsuki will find a set of pretty expensive baking stuff--like the kind that would take a couple of missions (or a ridiculous snack stand) to save up for. They all match and have cute designs patterned on them--think drawings of cupcakes and pies and stuff.
It's unsigned, but there's a red bow stuck onto this stuff.]
[Well, once he'd committed to getting gifts for people, Natsuki's was pretty easy. He gets a box of baking supplies, including a fondant making tools and a pastry icing set, except they're all in pink. The box is also wrapped in pink, with a sparkly silver ribbon, and has Natsuki's name on it. He'd meant to just leave it at her door like that one ill-fated cupcake, but unfortunately for him .... he bumps into her. Quite literally, even.]
Sorr--
[Halfway through that standard apology, he actually looks to see who he bumped, and--oh shit. oh shit.
Excuse him as he just stands there like a deer in headlights with a sparkly pink present with her name on it. rip in pieces.]
[ She's got a couple of boxes in her arms herself, and that probably means she should have been paying EXTRA attention to where she's going. Instead, she's kinda spacing out and thinking about all the weird stuff that's been going on lately, and ... well, there he is.
She spends a few moments scrambling to keep those boxes from hitting the floor and getting them securely back into her arms before she sighs in relief and actually looks up to see who it is. ]
... Oh. Hey.
[ Wow, that is an adorable box! She hasn't noticed her name on it yet, just the wrapping. But she does look a little amused, since they're both running around with gifts. ]
[ natsuki will find a handmade ornament of herself, daifuku, and a card from maya wishing her a happy candlenights! it's filled with doodles of natsuki doing various things, such as reading manga and fighting cee hungryman, and details how tough and cute maya thinks she is! it calls her heroic and wishes her happiness and safety ]
[Happy Candlenights! Guess who's now the proud owner of stuffed versions of the main characters of Parfait Girl? Each of them comes with a small, silly poem (which actually rhyme, for once) extolling their virtues and quirks. Minori's poem is the most detailed, of course, and her stuffed self has things like jackets and shoes to change out if Natsuki so desires. Natsuki also gets a really nice (pink) journal, high-quality pens, and a (pink) recipe book to write down her successful creations.]
[ What the FUCK, Mista. This is the cutest shit she's ever seen?
She spends a long time actually just wondering what she did to deserve all of this niceness, but finally, she gets an idea for a way to show her appreciation without having to be all mushy and gross.
She carefully arranges the dolls on her bed to make it look like they're all sitting around and chatting, and snaps a picture with her bracer. Then, she re-arranges them to make it look like Minori is falling off the bed and the other girls are all gasping in horror (as much as they can given that they have one set expression) or trying to save her from falling, and takes a picture of that, too. Then she sends both to Mista in succession, like a little photo comic. ]
[Honestly, he kind of didn't expect a response. He's got no idea what a tsundere is, but he knows Natsuki well enough by now. So when she texts him and it's not to yell at him, he's surprised. When he sees the pictures, though . . .]
[The gift Natsuki wakes up to her on bed is a few days late, but that's what happens when you're used to Christmas being a couple's holiday, not the holiday where you give gifts to your friends.
But it's a nicely wrapped box with a handmade card on top, the card full of doodles of Natsuki and general winter imagery. Lots of her being cool, and a few of her and Sayori writing poems together. There's a message inside apologizing for how late the gift is, but also telling her that he's glad he's gotten to meet her, and wishing her a happy holiday. He's not the best at heartfelt messages, sorry...he's kind of hoping the gift speaks for him better.
[Inside the box itself is a bag of handmade treats (that don't...look the best, but they're edible and decent in taste), a bag of candy on top of that, plus a few stationery items. A thick leather bound journal, an elegant quill pen with a bottle of pink ink to go with it, and some cute cat and kaomoji stickers.]
That's what Candlenights is for, right? Unless someone lied to me. But they'd be in big trouble if they did that!! And who can say no to gifts? Should I meet up with you or do you wanna try and find me?
[ This is...late. For reasons that are probably obvious. There's a box of...about twelve cupcakes? Strawberry. They are all lopsided and poorly frosted. The bottoms of some of them are burned. Baby's first baking attempt.
...Or seventh, but he'll never tell. Alex leaves the box outside, with a signed note apologizing for the quality...and what looks to be a simple comic. It's about a princess fighting a dragon with a cat-companion, and falling in love with a knight (also a girl) who keeps trying to bring her back to the castle. ...It's not very good. But, there's another note there: ]
It was the only thing I could find in Lyrabar that seemed like your tastes. I hope you can at least laugh at it.
[ And then, hastily scribbled: ] Thanks for the cream puffs
[ ...Definitely gotten by someone who absolutely didn't realize what Candlenights was. But, you know, he tried. ]
This is really cute. And she actually does enjoy the comic, even though it's kind of silly. It's ... really nice to know that people will put in this kind of effort for her.
Whew, these cupcakes though. She tries one, and ... well, they're not bad, but ... ]
your candlenights present should have been baking lessons lol
i don't think so like they weren't great but the middle parts still tasted fine you probably just baked them for too long and sometimes if they're not right in the middle of the oven they can rise uneven like that
[A messily-wrapped box, with Natsuki's name written directly on the colorful paper. There's a handmade card on top, decorated with stickers and doodles of wintry images like snow, gingerbread men, etc. It's not properly signed, but the signature isn't necessary. On one side of the interior:]
Tall green trees in lights twinkling bright, Sparkling strands of tinsel and snow pure white, The smell of hot cocoa and apple cider too, A very merry Candlenights, from Sayori to you!
[And then on the other side:]
It's crazy how much time we get to spend with each other now, isn't it? I'm really happy, though! I know it's been hard, but I'm really happy that you're here for my first Candlenights. Thank you for sticking by me.
[Inside the envelope with the card, on sturdy white stationery dotted with pale blue polka dots, is a poem.
Inside the box is a short hand-drawn comic about the Literature Club in their cool RPG roles going on a quest to retrieve a treasure from a dragon (they befriend the dragon in the end), some local spice blends and other specialised dry ingredients from previous mission locations, a wooden New New Aspen ornament carved and painted into a parfait, and a braided white cord bracelet with a pink writing quill charm.]
